Forgotten Champions: The Story of the 1951 BYU Basketball Team

Forgotten Champions: The Story of the 1951 BYU Basketball Team

  • This book accomplishes two things: (1) It is the first and only book to tell the comprehensive story of the 1951 BYU Basketball team; and (2) It definitively establishes how and when the NIT was the superior, the equal, and eventually the inferior of the NCAA tournament.

This is an amazingly informative historical perspective on the faces, issues, triumphs, and challenges in how the game was played in 1951 when BYU legends Mel Hutchins and Roland Minson led the Cougars to a remarkable but often forgotten NIT championship. A great contribution and window to the past.

This was a really interesting book on a very good basketball team. I went to school with these guys, and watched all of their home games. It brought back a lot of great memories.
